About the Louisiana Football

Louisiana-Lafayette Football Tickets

There are few college football teams with a better nickname than the Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns. Also, few programs made more progress since the turn of the century than the Ragin’ Cajuns. In 2000, cheap Louisiana-Lafayette football tickets were plentiful. The program went 1-10 as an independent that season, finishing off a four-year period in which the Cajuns won just six total games. But everything changed after the program joined the Sun Belt in 2001. The Ragin’ Cajuns are now a powerhouse in that conference, and last-minute Louisiana-Lafayette football tickets are in high demand.

Kings of New Orleans

While Louisiana-Lafayette enjoyed a few nice seasons as an independent and won a couple of conference titles during a short stint in the Big West, the program didn’t experience true success until Mark Hudspeth took over in 2011. While his tenure would eventually end unceremoniously, he helped put the Ragin’ Cajuns on the map, leading them to the New Orleans bowl five times during his seven seasons at the helm. He created consistency and a winning mentality at the program, helping to set up the Ragin’ Cajuns for success despite many of his wins being vacated due to NCAA violations.

In the Sun

Following Hudspeth in Lafayette was Billy Napier, who not only got the Ragin’ Cajuns past the violations committed by Hudspeth, but he took the program to new heights. After going 7-7 in his first season, Napier led the Ragin’ Cajuns to an 11-3 record in 2019. That set up Louisiana-Lafayette for a magical 2020 season that included an upset of a ranked Iowa State team and a 10-1 season that saw the Ragin’ Cajuns share the Sun Belt title and finish the season ranked no. 15 in the AP poll. It will likely go down as the best season in program history and a sign that there are no limits to what Louisiana-Lafayette can accomplish as a football program.
