Arkansas State Football Tickets
The Arkansas State Red Wolves might be one of the most underrated college football programs in the country. While they are frequently overlooked, it’s been difficult to find cheap Arkansas State football tickets for many years. They were an FCS powerhouse in the 1980s, and today the Red Wolves are a heavyweight in the Sun Belt Conference. Even if the Red Wolves remain the second most important football program in their own state, every football fan should covet the chance to score last-minute Arkansas State football tickets.
The glory of the 80s
Arkansas State football has come a long way since its first season in 1937 when it completed at the junior college level. A-State competed as an FCS program from 1982 to 1991, and during that time, they were one of the best. Under head coach Larry Lacewell, the Indians (as they were known in those days) reached the FCS playoffs every year from 1984 to 1987. That stretch included two Southland Conference championships and a run to the national championship game in 1986, although A-State ended up losing the championship game to Georgia Southern.
Staking a Claim
When the 80s ended, Arkansas State football went through some rough times. The move to the FBS level in 1992 was a big step in the right direction. However, it took nearly two decades for the Red Wolves to start finding success. Alas, coaches like Hugh Freeze, Gus Malzahn, and Bryan Harsin helped turn Arkansas State into one of the best teams in the Sun Belt. Most importantly, the program found a head coach in Blake Anderson, who was willing to stick around for a while. Anderson orchestrated Sun Belt titles in 2015 and 2016, cementing the Red Wolves as a top-flight Sun Belt program that now expects to play in a bowl game every season.
