Old Dominion Football Tickets
Hopefully, there is enough room in the state of Virginia for another big-time college football program because the Old Dominion Monarchs are moving in that direction. Cheap Old Dominion football tickets are becoming increasingly rare since the Monarchs jumped to the FBS level in 2014. The program has grown by leaps and bounds in a short period of time, and the Monarchs have their sights set even higher. As they continue their climb up the ladder, last-minute Old Dominion tickets will continue to be in high demand for fans who want to see a program on the rise.
Alive Again
Unbeknown to many, Old Dominion had a football program between 1930 and 1940 before shutting it down. The modern version of the Monarchs was born in 2009 under head coach Bobby Wilder. ODU was successful from the start, going 9-2 as an FCS independent in the program’s inaugural season after its rebirth. By Wilder’s third season, he had led the Monarchs into the Colonial Athletic Association and helped Old Dominion earn a spot in the FCS Playoffs. By 2012, the Monarchs had won their first-ever conference championship and returned to the Playoffs. That helped set the stage for Wilder to lead Old Dominion to the FBS level in 2014 when the Monarchs joined 2014, a massive step for such a young program.
Sunny Days Ahead
Wilder and the Monarchs achieved another first for the program in 2016 when Old Dominion played in a bowl game for the first time. After helping get the program off the ground, Wilder passed the reins to Ricky Rahne, who took the Monarchs to a bowl game in his first season at the helm in 2021. The following year, the Monarchs became a member of the Sun Belt Conference, a step in the right direction for Old Dominion football that promises to give the Monarchs every opportunity to keep making their mark on the football field.
