South Carolina Football Tickets
In the long history of college football in the South, it’s important not to overlook the South Carolina Gamecocks. The program has been around since 1892 and has as much history as any other college football program. Cheap South Carolina football tickets are just difficult to find as they are for any other program in the SEC. As a member of the SEC, the Gamecocks are able to compete at the highest level while maintaining several key rivalries both inside and outside of the conference. As a result, last-minute South Carolina football tickets continue to be a hot commodity for football fans in that part of the country.
Leave with a Bang
College football historians may remember that South Carolina was a long-time member of the ACC before joining the SEC. The Gamecocks played in the ACC from 1953 to 1970. Fittingly, South Carolina’s first conference championship came in its penultimate season in the ACC in 1969 when head coach Paul Dietzel led the Gamecocks to a perfect 6-0 conference record and the program’s second-ever bowl game.
The Old Ball Coach
While mostly known for his days in Florida, Steve Spurrier played a special role in the history of South Carolina football. The Gamecocks predictably struggled early in their time playing in the SEC. But that changed when Spurrier arrived in Columbia in 2005. Spurrier led the Gamecocks to nine bowl games in his ten full seasons at South Carolina. That stretch also included three consecutive top-10 finishes, as well as South Carolina’s first-ever appearance in the SEC Championship Game. With an 88-49 record during his tenure, Spurrier put South Carolina on the college football map. With the help of one of the best college football coaches of all time, the Gamecocks proved that they belong in the SEC and can compete among the best teams in the country.
