All Time Low
There’s no band that describes the emo-pop-rock of the 2000s better than All Time Low. They were every girl with aggressive side bangs favorite band, and they secretly still are.
You couldn’t just listen to an All Time Low song back in the day – on your 60 gig iPod classic. You had to at least mouth the lyrics to yourself as you listened to them in class, hiding your headphones in your hair – that’s partly what those side bangs were for, after all!
That’s not to say they didn’t have any male fans. They absolutely did! The band is made up of all men, who gave those semi-emo or at least non-sports-playing boys someone to look up to. Everyone knew someone who wanted to be Alex Gaskarth, Jack Barakat, Rian Dawson, or Zack Merrick – even if they wouldn’t admit it.
Warped Tour for the Win
Remember when people used to say “FTW,” and it meant for the win? Us too. That was just about the time that All Time Low came onto the scene. They grew their fanbase one small stage at a time, on the no-longer-alive Warped Tour. 2006 was a big year for the band. It saw them signed to Hopeless Records, and it’s when they put out their first album, Put Up or Shut Up.
Band of the Year
Just two years after their first official album, the Alternative Press named All Time Low the Band of the Year. Pretty exciting for four friends who had just graduated high school. What fans love about All Time Low is that their sound has evolved, when it comes to details, but they haven’t lost their angsty edge. I guess we can all be angsty teenagers forever, at least where our music is concerned!
