Ohio State Basketball Tickets
There’s nothing bigger on the Ohio State campus than the school’s football team. However, the Buckeye’s men’s basketball team is a close second most years. Cheap Ohio State basketball tickets aren’t exactly easy to find, as the program has been able to rise through the ranks and become a perennial contender in the Big Ten. The Buckeyes have gotten to a point where last-minute Ohio State basketball tickets are almost as coveted on campus as tickets to a football game, which is saying something.
Early Success
Ohio State doesn’t get much credit for being a program with a large amount of history, but that’s not exactly true. The Buckeyes won a few Big Ten titles back in the 1930s and 40s and even went to three straight Final Fours from 1944 to 1946. Ohio State was also one of the more dominant Big Ten basketball schools throughout the 1960s under head coach Fred Taylor. The Buckeyes won their first national championship in 1960, which was also their first of five straight Big Ten titles.
What Does It Matta
Ohio State basketball started to fall off the map in the 1970s, but under head coach Thad Matta, the program experienced a Renaissance beginning with a Big Ten title in 2006. That season kicked off a run of nine NCAA Tournament appearances in a 10-year span under Matt. During that time, the Buckeyes reached the Sweet 16 five times, the Final Four twice, and came up a little short in the 2007 national championship game. When Matta stepped aside after the 2017 season, new head coach Chris Holtmann was able to pick up where he left off, keeping Ohio State in the upper-echelon of the Big Ten and making them yearly participants in the NCAA Tournament.
