It’s not been easy for the Colorado State Rams to build a winning basketball culture. Traditionally, it’s been easy to find cheap Colorado State basketball tickets, as the program has rarely been able to sustain success. However, the Rams made some serious progress during the 2010s and are becoming a mid-major program to watch closely. Last-minute Colorado State basketball tickets are becoming increasingly popular, with brighter days no doubt ahead for the Rams.

A Little History

Colorado State doesn’t have the most prestigious history on the basketball court, but the Rams have had their moments. CSU’s best period on the hardwood came during the 1960s when the Rams played as an independent. That decade included four trips to the NCAA Tournament, highlighted by a run to the Elite Eight in 1969. Perhaps the most satisfying part of that run was a victory over in-state rival Colorado in the Sweet 16. Alas, it would be another 20 years until the Rams returned to the NCAA Tournament.

On the Rise

Under Tim Miles, Colorado State began the long journey toward becoming a competitive basketball program. His five-year tenure ended in 2012 with CSU’s second trip to the NCAA Tournament since 1990. Larry Eustachy took the reins from Miles and took the Rams to the Big Dance again in 2013. Eustachy maintained a respectable program for several years, eventually giving way to Niko Medved in 2018 after resigning amidst improprieties. Under Medved, who was an assistant under Miles, the Rams have put the ugly end to the Eustachy era behind them continued to assert themselves as a viable contender in the Mountain West and a program that expects to improve in the years to come.
