About the Utah State Basketball
Over the last quarter-century, the Utah State Aggies have emerged as one of the most intriguing mid-majors in college basketball. Even before then, the program was a fan favorite on campus, making cheap Utah State basketball tickets difficult to find. The Aggies have become an even hotter ticket in recent years, becoming a Mountain West Conference powerhouse. That success has made the program even more popular, creating a high demand for last-minute Utah State basketball tickets for every home game.
A Bowl of Stew
While Utah State had many successful seasons in front of a loyal fanbase, the Aggies hit their stride under head coach Stew Morrill, who took over in 1998. Morrill inherited a program from Larry Eustachy that reached the NCAA Tournament the previous season for the first time in a decade. He was able to take that success and run with it. During his second season in charge, the Aggies went undefeated inside the Big West and made it back to the Big Dance. That became the first of eight NCAA Tournament appearances Utah State made over the next 12 seasons. Even after moving to the WAC in 2005, the Aggies remained a dangerous mid-major program.
Another Rise to Power
Eventually, things fizzled under Morrill while replacement Tim Duryea didn’t fare much better. But the Aggies wouldn’t stay down for long. Craig Smith took over in 2018 and immediately took Utah State to the top of the Mountain West Conference. The Aggies earned NCAA Tournament berths in both 2019 and 2020, setting the stage for Smith and Utah State to remain the preeminent team in the Mountain West for many years to come.
