GOT7 Tickets
No, this isn’t a ray of hope for Game of Thrones fan, the acronym for the HBO show and name of this Korean boy band are unrelated. If you’re still wallowing in the losses of the show, though, music from this energetic band may help you fill that void.
If you’re not familiar with them, we’re happy to bring you up to speed. They’re a seven-part Korean and Japanese boyband that forgo traditional choreographed dancing for street moves and martial arts. They’re signed with/managed by Sony Music Entertainment Japan and a product of JYP entertainment. Once you start listening to their surprising harmonies and see the effort they put into their shows, you’ll be a lifelong fan.
Becoming GOT7
Every band has an origin story, some more exciting than others. While this band didn’t come together because they won a competition or were found in a small town, finding seven voices that work together is impressive all the same. Two of the seven members, JB and Jinyoung, auditioned for spots with the entertainment company JYP and nailed them. The other members were sourced by talent scouts throughout Asia, even as far south from their Korean roots as Thailand.
Once they had everyone they needed, including JB, Jinyoung, Mark, Jackson, BamBam, and Yugyeom JYP was ready to debut its new boy band to the world. Their debut EP, Got It, did well enough to get them signed to a label and chart on Billboard’s global album chart.
A Quick Rise to Fame
Once they were signed to Sony’s Japanese arm, their success skyrocketed. Have you ever heard the expression “zero to sixty in 3.5”? That’s a good explanation of their careers. And though everything came together quickly and they’ve only been around since 2014, their US tours usually sell out.
