Arkansas Football Tickets
Most college football fans may not realize it, but the Arkansas Razorbacks have a long and proud history on the gridiron. The program may have fallen on hard times recently, leading to cheap Arkansas football tickets being widely available. But it hasn’t always been like that, and it isn’t going to stay that way forever. With a history of success and several intense rivalries, the Razorbacks are still a team worth watching, making last-minute Arkansas football tickets well worth the price of admission.
One of the Greats
The golden era of Arkansas football came under the guidance of Hall of Fame coach Frank Boyles, who coached the Razorbacks from 1958 to 1976 before spending over 30 years as the school’s athletic director. In 19 seasons, Boyles led the Razorbacks to seven Southwest Conference titles while finishing nine seasons ranked in the top-10 nationally. Of course, his biggest accomplishment at Arkansas was winning the 1964 national championship after going 11-0, capping the season with a Cotton Bowl win over Nebraska. After Broyles built the Razorbacks into a national power, his immediate successors, Lou Holtz and Ken Hatfield continued to make Arkansas a marquee program throughout the 1970s and 80s.
A New Challenge
After years of being a heavyweight in the Southwest Conference, Arkansas embarked on a new challenge in 1992 when the Razorbacks joined the SEC. Life in the best conference in college football hasn’t always been easy for the Hogs. But it hasn’t been all bad for the Razorbacks in the SEC. Houston Nutt took Arkansas to six straight bowl games and two SEC Championship Games during his tenure. A few years later, Bobby Petrino had the Razorbacks ranked no. 5 in the nation to cap off an 11-2 campaign in 2011. Amidst a few valleys, Arkansas has reached plenty of high peaks in the SEC, and it could be only a matter of time until the Hogs are back among the elite teams in the conference.
