Lehigh Football Tickets
In the history of college football, few programs have been as important as the Lehigh Mountain Hawks. Nowadays, they are a small FCS program in the Patriot League, which means cheap Lehigh football tickets are easy to come by for most fans. But Lehigh football dates back to 1884, meaning the Mountain Hawks have played and won more games than almost any other program in college football history. That history is why any college football fan should be excited to get their hands on last-minute Lehigh football tickets.
The Only Rivalry That Matters
Much of Lehigh’s football history is tied to its longstanding rivalry with Lafayette, which is less than 20 miles from the Lehigh campus. Since 1884, the two programs have met at least once on the football field every year with just two exceptions. It’s the most played-rivalry game in college football history, which is a record that is unlikely to ever be broken. Over the years, it has provided many memorable moments and has inspired several books to be written about it.
The Winning Ways
Not only has Lehigh football been around for a long time, but the program has done plenty of winning over the years. At the Division II level, the Engineers (as they were known at the time) were a powerhouse for most of the 1950s and then came alive again in the 1970s after a down period. In 1977, Lehigh won the Division II national championship before making the jump to the I-AA level. Under coach John Whitehead, Lehigh reached the I-AA national championship game in the program’s second season at the new level.
Flying High
The Mountain Hawks have continued to be a force in the Patriot League and the FCS level. Since the turn of the century, they’ve made over half a dozen appearances in the FCS playoffs. It’s safe to say that the proud tradition of Lehigh football that has been built up for over a century will continue for a long time to come.
