About the Florida International Football

Florida International Football Tickets

The longstanding tradition of college football in the state of Florida extends far beyond the Sunshine State’s three big schools. It surely extends to include the Florida International Panthers, who have started to emerge as a force on the gridiron. While the Panthers have only been playing football since 2002, cheap Florida International football tickets have always been difficult to come by. Whether they are battling one of their in-state rivals or fighting for bragging rights inside Conference USA, last-minute Florida International football tickets have become a hot commodity in the city of Miami.

With a Crystal Ball

While Don Strock was the first coach in FIU football history and helped take the Panthers from the FCS level to the FBS level, the program didn’t come alive until after Mario Cristobal took over in 2007. In 2010, Cristobal guided the Panthers to their first-ever Sun Belt championship and their first bowl game in program history. While his tenure ended on a sour note after one bad season, Cristobal helped to put Florida International on the map and will forever be an important part of FIU football history.

The King of Florida

Florida International took things to a new level in 2017 when longtime Miami Hurricanes coach Butch Davis took over the program. Davis inherited a team that had endured five straight losing seasons and immediately turned them into a winning program. He led the Panthers to a bowl game in each of his first three seasons at FIU. Of course, the highlight of his tenure will always be FIU’s upset victory over intra-city rival Miami at the end of the 2019 season. Not only did the win clinch a bowl bid for the Panthers, but it was a watershed moment for Florida International to beat one of the power-conference teams from the state of Florida, especially Miami.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where Does Florida International Football Play?

The Panthers have spent their entire history playing their home games at Riccardo Silva Stadium, which is located on the FIU campus in Miami, Florida. Those upgrades included a new video board and a new scoreboard. Riccardo Silva Stadium also serves as the home field for Miami FC, a pro soccer team. For football games, the stadium has a capacity of 20,000 fans, although future expansions are planned that could increase capacity to as much as 45,000 fans.
