North Alabama Football Tickets
From top to bottom, the state of Alabama is wild for college football, and that includes the North Alabama Lions. Since UNA only recently made the move to the FCS level from Division II, it’s still relatively easy to find cheap North Alabama football tickets. But fans shouldn’t expect things to stay like that forever. Whether or not the Lions take off as a powerhouse at the FCS level, the excitement around the program is only going to grow over time. Sooner or later, last-minute North Alabama football tickets will be as in demand as any other college football team in the state of Alabama.
Triple Your Pleasure
North Alabama played its first season in 1949 and spent more than half a century as one of the more consistent programs at the Division II level. Of course, the Lions hit their peak in the 1990s. Under coach Bobby Wallace, North Alabama won three consecutive Division II national championships from 1993 to 1995, going 41-1 during those three seasons. During the early 2000s, the Lions continued to be a regular participant in the Division II playoffs and a powerhouse in the Gulf South Conference. While Wallace left North Alabama after the 1997 season, he returned in 2013 to coach five more seasons, leading the Lions to four conference titles and a trip to the Division II Championship Game in 2016.
Moving Up
In 2018, North Alabama made the move up to the FCS level under head coach Chris Willis, who had been an assistant on the UNA staff since 2002. A year after making their FCS debut, the Lions officially joined the Big South Conference before moving into the Atlantic Sun in 2022. Competition-wise, it’s a big step up for Northern Alabama compared to its days as a Division II powerhouse. However, playing at the FCS level will allow the Lions to grow their fanbase even more and reach their full potential on the football field.
