About the TCU Football

TCU Football Tickets

The state of Texas is one of the biggest hotbeds for college football, and within the state, the TCU Horned Frogs are undoubtedly one of the top programs, past and present. The Horned Frogs have a proud history, which is why cheap TCU football tickets have always been a rare commodity. However, the Horned Frogs have also been one of the most successful programs in the country during the 21st century. After reaching the national championship game in 2022, it’s safe to say that the good days are back at TCU. With the Horned Frogs poised to be in the national spotlight for the foreseeable future, last-minute TCU football tickets are once again a hot commodity in the college football world.

Early Days

While TCU’s football history dates back to 1896, it was during the 1930s when the Horned Frogs had their first golden era. TCU won the 1935 national championship behind Hall of Fame quarterback Sammy Baugh. The Horned Frogs won another national title in 1938 behind Heisman winner Davey O’Brien. The second of the two national championships capped off an incredible decade in which TCU went 90-17-10 over ten years, including three undefeated seasons and three Southwest Conference championships.

A Giant Leap

While TCU fell out of the national spotlight for a long time, the Horned Frogs returned to prominence around the turn of the century. In three seasons, Dennis Franchione led TCU to a 25-10 record, setting the stage for his successor, Gary Patterson, to make TCU one of the most consistent programs in the country. Patterson took over in 2001, and over the next 20 years, he led the Horned Frogs to 16 bowl games, six conference titles in three different conferences, and six top-10 finishes. Patterson won at least ten games with the Horned Frogs 11 times, allowing TCU to join the Big 12 Conference in 2012, solidifying its place in the college football landscape and ensuring that the Horned Frogs will be able to achieve great things in the future.
