Charleston Southern Football Tickets
Despite not having the same storied history as some other programs, the Charleston Southern Buccaneers are among the most intriguing FCS programs in college football these days. As an FCS program, fans should be able to get their hands on cheap Charleston Southern football tickets. However, that doesn’t mean they won’t be able to watch quality football. In recent years, the Buccaneers have emerged as a contender inside the Big South Conference and a team unafraid to face FBS powerhouse programs. The program is undoubtedly on the rise, creating a high demand for last-minute Charleston Southern football tickets.
Out of Thin Air
The Charleston Southern football program was almost born overnight. The school began club football in 1989, and by 1993, the Buccaneers were playing Division I football at the FCS level. Naturally, it was hard at first, as the Buccaneers won just ten games in their first six seasons at the FCS level. However, after coach Jay Mills took over in 2003, one year after CSU joined the Big South, things started to pick up. In 2005, Mills led the Buccaneers to their first winning season in program history, as well as a share of the Big South title. It wasn’t exactly smooth sailing from there, but the dark days for Charleston Southern football were over.
The Next Step
In 10 seasons at the helm, Mills took the Buccaneers as far as he could. In 2013, he was succeeded by Jamey Chadwell, who took Charleston Southern to the next level. In his first season, Chadwell coached the first 10-win season in program history. Two years later, the Buccaneers won 10 games again while also winning the Big South championship and making the program’s first appearance in the FCS Playoffs. The Buccaneers returned to the FCS Playoffs again in 2016, finishing both seasons in the top-10 of the FCS polls. Between the efforts of Mills and Chadwell, Charleston Southern football is standing on solid ground and has a bright future ahead of it.
