Prairie View A&M Panthers Football Tickets
There is almost an endless list of college football teams in the state of Texas, including the Prairie View A&M Panthers. The Panthers have long been one of the best HBCU programs in the country, making cheap Prairie View A&M football tickets a rare commodity. There have been plenty of black college national championships and conference championships in the program’s history. However, the program’s success is not just in the past. The Panthers have proven themselves to be a quality FCS program, keeping last-minute Prairie View A&M football tickets in high demand.
Billy the Kid
College Football Hall of Fame member Billy Nicks is the most important figure in the history of Prairie View A&M football. He’s considered the Bear Bryant of black college football. Between 1952 and 1965, Nicks led the Panthers to seven SWAC championships and five Black College Football National Championships. During those 14 seasons, Nicks coached Prairie View A&M to three undefeated seasons and six other seasons in which they lost two games or less. That era also included a trip to the NAIA National Championship Game in 1963, a game the Panthers lost 33-27.
Roaring Again
After spending most of their history at the NAIA or Division II level, the Panthers made the jump to the FCS level in 1980. While it took a while to find their footing, Prairie View A&M won the SWAC championship in 2009, snapping a 45-year drought without a conference title. The Panthers returned to the SWAC title game in 2021 with head coach Eric Dooley and his successor Bubba McDowell leading a resurgence of the program and giving the Panthers a bright future on the football field.
