Louisiana Tech Football Tickets
Everybody knows that in the Deep South, college football is king. That doesn’t just apply to the big schools in powerhouse programs. It also includes teams like the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs. Being a mid-major program makes it a little easier for fans to find cheap Louisiana Tech football tickets. But the passion and excitement around the program are no different, especially for a program with such a rich tradition. In fact, finding last-minute Louisiana Tech football tickets can be a challenge because the Bulldogs have built such a loyal fanbase throughout their history.
The Godfather
Since the stadium at Louisiana Tech is named after him, it’s safe to say that Joe Aillet is the Godfather of Louisiana Tech football. He coached the Bulldogs from 1940 to 1966. During that time, the Bulldogs were a Division II program. However, Aillet led Louisiana Tech to a record of 151-86-8 and 12 conference championships. He set the foundation for his successor Maxie Lambright, who won seven conference titles in 12 seasons and led Louisiana Tech to three straight claimed national championships, including the 1972 title, which is universally recognized.
The Big Step Up
After great success at the Division II level, Louisiana Tech eventually moved up to the FCS level, joining the Western Athletic Conference in 2001 before settling in Conference USA in 2013. Despite some growing pains at a higher level of competition, the Bulldogs hit their stride under head coach Skip Holtz, whose arrival coincided with Louisiana Tech joining Conference USA. Under Holtz, the Bulldogs have become a virtual lock to play in a bowl game every season and a perennial contender in the Conference USA West Division. Louisiana Tech has become a stable and successful mid-major program with both a distinguished past and a bright future.
