Utah State Football Tickets
It was a long climb, but the Utah State Aggies have reached a level where they can be considered one of the best mid-major programs in college football. For many years, the Aggies were a mediocre program in smaller conferences, making cheap Utah State football tickets easy to find. However, the Aggies appear to be in the midst of a golden era in which they are one of the top teams in the Mountain West and a perennial bowl participant. At the moment, last-minute Utah State football tickets are in demand and a treat for any college football fan.
The Man Who Started It All
While most of Utah State’s football success is recent, the program owes a great debt to Dick Romney, who is one of the most influential people in school history. Romney coached the Aggies from 1919 to 1948, a tenure that stretches back to when the school was called Utah Agricultural College. While simultaneously coaching the school’s basketball team and serving as athletic director, Romney coached the Aggies to 128 wins and four conference championships. Toward the end of his Hall of Fame coaching career, he guided Utah State to its first two bowl games in program history.
Anderson and Wells
Modern Utah State history is all about two coaches: Gary Andersen and Matt Wells. Andersen took over a struggling program in 2009, only to get the Aggies to a bowl game by 2011. In 2012, Andersen led Utah State to an 11-2 season, its first conference championship in 15 years, and its first top-25 postseason ranking since 1961. He then passed the torch to Wells, who helped Utah State qualify for a bowl game in five of his six seasons, a run that ended with an 11-2 record and another top-25 ranking in 2018. Oddly enough, when Wells left for a better job after that season, Andersen took his place, returning to the program he helped to build.
