Who is Tame Impala?

Tame Impala is just the name of the music project. The brainchild behind these psychedelic soundscapes is Kevin Parker, an Australian musician, sound engineer, and record producer who writes, performs, and records all the music himself in his recording studio, before going out on tour with his trusted circle of live performers to recreate the iconic sound of his tracks. Many of these live members include those from Pond, another Australian psychedelic rock band, that Parker and Tame Impala are closely tied with.

A Long, Proud Tradition of Neo-Psychedelia

Tame Impala’s music has been described as dreamy, ephemeral, awe-inducing, and powerfully raw, building on the proud tradition of psychedelic pop and rock and synthesizing it with newer musical trends (and technologies). The result, pretty much universally referred to as Neo-Psychedelia, might sound like a niche music genre to be sure, but Tame Impala isn’t just some weirdo Australian phenomenon – Parker and friends have toured globally, drawing huge crowds to revel in his unique and mystical mix of dreamy beats and electronically-distorted guitar riffs.
