There is some violence, drag queens, and romance, too. It all starts with Charlie, who’s looking for ways to make his family business relevant again. Lola and Charlie

Lola is a drag queen, a male performer in woman’s clothes, who was raised as a professional boxer. He and very square business owner Charlie meet by chance, and it seems they have nothing in common. That is until Charlie is made aware of a gap in the market – heels for men, or heavy women with big feet. He and Lola team up to make this part of their new business plan, though not all of the employees are willing to play along. It takes them more than a little while to warm up to the idea of making “Kinky Boots” and even longer to warm up to Lola herself.

 

From Movie to Musical

This play was based on a movie, which was based on a true story about a man named Charlie Pierce. The movie wasn’t a musical, but Cyndi Lauper (yes, that Cyndi Lauper) took it upon herself to add music -and sparkles- to the score. Since then its been a must-see show for people around the world, as it should be, now, for you.
