In the days of the Beatles, we had the British invasion. It now appears that there is a different type of musical invasion. This time, it’s coming in the form of Korean boy bands that operate under the K-pop category. One of the groups leading the K-pop invasion is the group SuperM. As the name implies, this is a super-group made up of members of other Korean boy bands who have brought their talents together to create a whole new sensation that is gaining attention worldwide.

The First Time

SuperM’s existence was officially announced in August 2019 after rumors of a K-pop Super Boy Band forming. The focal point of the band was creating performance-based music that can generate excitement in a concert setting. SuperM also took the supergroup moniker seriously, being described as “the Avengers of K-pop.” Obviously, that was a lot of hype, but SuperM had no problem living up to it. When the group’s debut album was released in October 2019, it immediately became the top album on the Billboard 200 charts in the U.S. They were just the second Korean band to accomplish that and the first to do it with their debut album.

The Sky is the Limit

After SuperM’s first album was an unparalleled success for a K-pop group, there’s no telling where the band can go in the future. With all seven members already being part of successful K-pop boy bands, SuperM had a massive following on the day it was founded. The group members have all managed to put their egos aside to create something special. As soon as the seven members came together, they produced a string of hits in a short period of time that no other K-pop group has been able to match. If this supergroup is able to stay together for the long run, SuperM surely has the star power to rule the world and become the biggest and most accomplished boy band in K-pop history.
