Iowa Basketball Tickets
On the list of the most underrated college basketball programs are the Iowa Hawkeyes. For a long time, the program has been home to great players and legendary coaches. Of course, not all of those legendary coaches have stayed with the Hawkeyes forever, but that doesn’t mean it’s easy to find cheap Iowa basketball tickets. Watching the Hawkeyes is always worth the price of admission. Even if conference titles and deep tournament runs have been a rarity, scoring last-minute Iowa basketball tickets is still a treat.
Parade of Coaches
Iowa is one of the few basketball programs in the country that can claim to have four Hall of Fame coaches in its ranks. By far, the most famous of the four is Lute Olson, who spent the early days of his coaching career at Iowa. It was slow going at first, but Olson ultimately led the Hawkeyes to a Big Ten title in 1979 and five straight NCAA Tournament appearances, including a run to the Sweet 16 in 1983. Despite leaving after the 1983 season, Olson set up the Hawkeyes for sustained success that lasted deep into the 1990s.
Fran’s the Man
The Hawkeyes fell onto some hard times around the turn of the century. For a few seasons, Iowa was the laughing stock of the Big Ten. But that started to change in 2010 when Fran McCaffery became the head coach. A run to the NIT semi-finals in 2013 set up the Hawkeyes for a return to the NCAA Tournament in 2014 after a nearly decade-long drought. McCaffery has brought some much-needed stability to the Iowa basketball program, making the Hawkeyes a team to be taken seriously inside the Big Ten and one that is poised to take things to the next level in the years to come.
