Dayton Basketball Tickets
Unfortunately for some folks, the days of cheap Dayton basketball tickets might be over. For years, the Flyers were able to stay under the radar as just another mid-major program trying to make noise. However, they have slowly but surely climbed the ladder and become a program that’s recognized on the national stage. Nowadays, fans should look to score last-minute Dayton basketball tickets to get the best deals. The good news is that with the way the Flyers have grown as a program, seeing them is well worth the price of admission.
NIT Glory
For most of the 20th century, Dayton had far more success in the NIT than in the NCAA Tournament. For what it’s worth, the Flyers were NIT champions in both 1962 and 1968, with a few surprising runs deep into the NCAA Tournament in between. Even after they joined the Atlantic 10 in 1995, NIT appearances were more common than NCAA Tournament appearances for the Flyers, who were crowned NIT champs for the third time in 2010.
It’s Miller Time!
The arrival of head coach Archie Miller in 2011 helped turn the tide for Dayton. While his tenure with the Flyers lasted just six seasons, it ended with four straight trips to the NCAA Tournament and back-to-back Atlantic 10 titles. That time also included a run to the Elite Eight in 2014, Dayton’s deepest tournament run in 30 years. Miller’s time at Dayton set the stage for Anthony Grant, who led the Flyers to a magical season in 2019-20, arguably the greatest in the history of the program, leaving no doubt that Dayton is among the best mid-major programs in college basketball.
