George Washington Basketball Tickets
The District of Columbia may be small in size, but there’s plenty of room for multiple college basketball teams. One of those teams is the George Washington Colonials of the Atlantic 10 Conference. In recent years, it’s been a little easier to find cheap George Washington basketball tickets because the Colonials have struggled to find consistent success. But if you rewind to the 1990s and early 2000s, last-minute George Washington basketball tickets were in high demand, as the Colonials were a dangerous mid-major program that garnered national attention. One of these days, the Colonials will return to prominence and be a program that’s worthy of national attention.
The Glorious 90s
In the 1990s, George Washington basketball emerged from obscurity under head coach Mike Jarvis, who took over the program in 1990. In his eight seasons, Jarvis took the Colonials to the NCAA Tournament four times and the NIT three times. His tenure was punctuated by a magical trip to the Sweet 16 in 1993, the program’s first appearance since 1954. Karl Hobbs would take over the program in 2001, leading the Colonials to three straight NCAA Tournament berths from 2005 to 2007, winning two Atlantic 10 Tournament titles and one A-10 regular-season title during that span.
Colonial Rebuilding
Unfortunately for George Washington, the program took a dip after the 2007 NCAA Tournament. The Colonials would make it back to the Big Dance in 2014 and were NIT champions in 2016 under Mike Lonergan. But with the Atlantic-10 growing in size and improving in quality, George Washington has struggled to live up to its proud history. However, the program’s past accomplishments indicate that better days in the future are possible.
