Southern California Basketball Tickets
USC may always be a football school, but the Trojans have had plenty of success on the basketball court as well. The program has experienced plenty of peaks and valleys, but cheap USC basketball tickets have always been difficult to find. While the Trojans are still searching for their first basketball national championship, the program has started to gain some traction in the 21st century. As a result, last-minute USC basketball tickets are now a hot commodity in Los Angeles.
A Taste of Success
USC first experienced success on the basketball court in the 1930s under head coach Sam Barry. He guided the Trojans to the top of the Pacific Coast Conference hierarchy, culminating in the program’s first trip to the Final Four in 1940. Barry later had a second stint at USC before passing the torch to Forrest Twogood, who won two more conference titles with the Trojans and brought them back to the Final Four in 1954.
Star Power
Following the 1954 trip to the Final Four, success at USC was sporadic for the next 50 years, with the Trojans winning just one conference title in 1985. But when Tim Floyd took over as head coach in 2005, he finally started to bring star players to USC. The likes of Taj Gibson and O.J. Mayo helped to turn things around by getting the Trojans to the NCAA Tournament in three consecutive seasons, a first in program history despite the 2007-08 season being voided by Mayo’s eligibility issues.
The Wizard of Enfield
Despite the scandal that plagued Floyd’s time at USC, he proved that USC basketball could succeed. In 2013, the Trojans brought in Andy Enfield, who began a full-scale rebuilding effort. Within a few short years, Enfield took USC to the upper-echelon of the Pac-12 and back to the NCAA Tournament, creating optimism for even brighter days ahead.
