Citadel Basketball Tickets
It would be impossible to classify the Citadel Bulldogs as a top-flight college basketball program. The Bulldogs have endured many years of struggles, which is why cheap Citadel basketball tickets are usually plentiful. But that doesn’t mean the Bulldogs should be ignored by college basketball fans. They have intense rivalries and have had great players who are remembered forever, just like any other college basketball program. More importantly, the Bulldogs have made some positive strides on the court in recent years, and with the city of Charleston growing as a basketball hotbed, last-minute Citadel basketball tickets are more in demand than ever before.
Notable Names
The Bulldogs are far from the most prestigious college basketball program, but they’ve had a few noteworthy players over the years. In the 1980s, Regan Truesdale became one of the best players in program history. Truesdale is also one of the few players to win Southern Conference Player of the Year honors multiple times. Another famous name in the Citadel family is Pat Conroy. While known best as an author, Conroy was a key player for the Bulldogs during the 1960s and used his experience playing for the Citadel in some of his books, including the memoir My Losing Season, which was about his senior year with the Bulldogs.
Bulldogs Are Building
There’s no doubt that it’s been a long and difficult journey for Citadel basketball, but the Bulldogs have taken some steps forward. In 2009, coach Ed Conroy led the Citadel to an appearance in the CIT, the program’s first postseason appearance, which came after the Bulldogs won 20 games for the first time in 30 years. After briefly leaving for greener pastures, Conroy returned to the Citadel in 2022 with the goal of picking up where he left off and turning the Bulldogs into the kind of program that’s competitive year in and year out.
