About the Nebraska Football

Nebraska Football Tickets

In the history of college football, there aren’t a lot of programs that can compare with the Nebraska Cornhuskers. The history and prestige of the program have always made cheap Nebraska football tickets hard to find. The Cornhuskers have a winning pedigree and history filled with great players and figures who have influenced and changed college football forever. While times have changed a little, last-minute Nebraska football tickets are always in huge demand for a fanbase that’s as loyal as any in college football.

Team of the Century

At the turn of the 20th century, Nebraska changed its nickname from Bugeaters to Cornhuskers and then turned into a national power. Between 1900 and 1940, Nebraska won at least a share of 21 conference championships across multiple leagues and with over half a dozen coaches. During that period, the Cornhuskers also pulled off five undefeated seasons.

The Second Wave

The next great era of Nebraska football came in 1962 when Bob Devaney took over as the head coach. He coached 11 seasons, leading the Cornhuskers to eight Big Eight Conference titles and back-to-back national championships in 1970 and 1971. In 1973, he turned the program over to Tom Osborne, who maintained a high level of success until his retirement in 1997. Osborne was 255-49-3 during his tenure, winning more than a dozen conference titles, and finished every season with Nebraska going to a bowl game and being ranked in the top-25. He closed out his career by winning three national championships in four years from 1994 to 1997, making the Cornhuskers arguably the best program during the second half of the 20th century.

Big Ten Time

While the program was built on tradition, Nebraska football changed forever when the Cornhuskers moved to the Big Ten. The move challenged Nebraska in a new way and gave the Cornhuskers a new set of rivals. While the transition has proven to be difficult, there is no way to take away all of the accomplishments that have made Nebraska one of the best programs in college football history.
