Amigo the Devil
In the popular music scene, it’s easy to compare one band to another. Each country singer sounds a little bit like the next. There’s a particular formula for the perfect pop song. It used to be that you featured Lil Wayne for 20 seconds or so, but now it’s more like Drake or Cardi B.
But that’s absolutely not the case for Amigo the Devil. Believe us – we’ve spent hours trying to find a similar band to compare them – but we come up short. Gun to our heads (appropriate for this band), we’d say their sound, instrumentally, is closest to The Chain by Fleetwood Mac. But their lyrics and vocals? Much darker. The Damnwells come to mind too, but only if they were at a Bluegrass festival, and in a really, really, bad mood.
Murder Folk: What Is That?
If you look up “Amigo the Devil Bio,” you’ll see their genre listed as “Murder Folk.” And while we’ve never heard those two words combined before, it’s honestly the best we could have come up with as well. Their music is kind of like if you gave Billie Eilish a banjo and told her to be as dark as her teenage mind could. Why try to keep comparing Amigo the Devil to other artists when it’s impossible? To get those who aren’t currently fans to go listen – you won’t regret it!
Danny K from Miami
Though Amigo the Devil is technically a band, it only consists of one member: Danny K. He’s the mastermind behind the lyrics and the backwoods instrumental sounds, that could also be used for a chase scene in a horror movie. There are no other words to describe him than a semi-evil genius, but only in the best way.
