About the USC Football

Southern California Football Tickets

In the history of college football, few programs can match the accomplishments of the University of Southern California Trojans. USC is all about winning games and championships. Plus, no school has produced more NFL talent than the Trojans. For decades, it’s been virtually impossible to find cheap Southern California football tickets. The Trojans continue to be a college football powerhouse that has championship aspirations every season, and every football fan in Los Angeles should consider themselves lucky if they’re able to score last-minute Southern California football tickets.

The Beginning of Greatness

USC’s ascent to the top began in the 1920s under head coach Howard Jones, who coached the Trojans from 1925 to 1940. His tenure included seven Pacific Coast Conference titles and the first four national championships in program history. Despite having three losing seasons in his 16 years at USC, Jones also led the Trojans to three undefeated seasons and became the first of many USC coaches who would later be inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame.

The Two Johns

The history of USC football can’t be written without mentioning coaches John McKay and John Robinson. McKay coached the Trojans from 1960 to 1975, turning USC from a West Coast heavyweight into a national power. He won 10 conference titles with the Trojans while also overseeing USC’s move to the Pac-8 Conference. More importantly, he won four national championships, snapping a drought of over 20 years. McKay then handed the reins to Robinson, another Hall of Fame coach. Across two stints at USC that covered 12 total seasons, Robinson won five conference titles and one national championship.

21st Century Dynasty

During the 1990s, the Trojans started to lose their stranglehold on the rest of the Pac-10, but that changed when Pete Carroll arrived in 2001. By Carroll’s second season, USC was back on top in the Pac-10, winning the first of seven conference championships in a row. That was followed by back-to-back national championships in 2003 and 2004, which once again established USC as one of the nation’s preeminent programs.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where Does Southern California Football Play?

The Coliseum is one of the oldest and most iconic sporting venues in the country, hosting the Olympics, the Super Bowl, and countless other teams and events. However, USC football has been the one consistent tenant at the Coliseum for the past century. In 2019, USC completed a massive renovation of the Coliseum, reducing capacity to 77,500 fans but giving it all of the amenities found in modern stadiums.
