Abilene Christian Football Tickets
For years, the Abilene Christian Wildcats were one of the most popular football programs at the NAIA and Division II levels. Even for a small-time program, it was difficult to find cheap Abilene Christian football tickets. That task has become even more difficult after the Wildcats made the leap to the FCS level in 2013. With such a rich tradition, it’s only a matter of time until the Wildcats become one of the top FCS teams in the country, keeping last-minute Abilene Christian football tickets in high demand for years to come.
The Sweet 70s
Abilene Christian rose to prominence at the NAIA level in the 1970s. In 1973, the Wildcats joined the Lone Star Conference, winning both the conference title and the NAIA national championship in their first season. Despite a head coaching change a few years later, the Wildcats won another NAIA championship in 1977, cementing the program’s legacy within the Lone Star Conference and the NAIA level before making the move to the Division II level in 1982.
The Next Big Leap
After many years of success and notoriety at the Division 2 level, ACU made a big leap to the FCS level and the Southland Conference in 2013. The transition was by no means easy, as it meant a bigger commitment to football and a higher level of competition. However, the Wildcats have managed to hold their own in their new conference. ACU has been unafraid to challenge themselves with games against FBS programs and test themselves against the best. Now that they’ve been able to make the transition and create a solid foundation, the Wildcats are ready to take another step forward in the years to come and become a program capable of competing for championships at the FCS level.
