About the Kansas State Football

Kansas State Football Tickets

There is no question that the Kansas State Wildcats form one of the most unique programs in college football. They aren’t located in a football hotbed, and they aren’t a traditional powerhouse. But in terms of passion and fan loyalty, K-State is second to none, which always creates a high demand for last-minute Kansas State football tickets. Even when the Wildcats are underdogs, the K-State faithful embrace that role and always believe in their team to pull off an upset, which is another reason why it’s difficult finding cheap Kansas State football tickets.

The Godfather

There are few people in college football history who have done as much for a program as Bill Snyder has done for Kansas State. When Snyder became head coach in 1989, he inherited a program that had gone winless in back-to-back seasons and had just one conference championship since 1913. But by his fifth season, Snyder had turned the Wildcats into a top-25 team that finished a 9-2-1 season with a bowl win. That win in the 1993 Copper Bowl kicked off a string of 11 straight bowl appearances for Kansas State, a feat that would have seemed impossible when Snyder arrived.

During that 11-year stretch, the Wildcats enjoyed four straight seasons with 11 wins and a top-10 ranking. Kansas State also won at least a share of the Big 12 North Division in three straight seasons. In 2003, which ended up being the last of K-State’s 11 straight bowl appearances, the Wildcats finally won the Big 12 Championship Game, ending a 90-year conference title drought.

How About an Encore

Snyder retired in 2005 after a memorable and transformative 17-year run at Kansas State. However, he came out of retirement and returned to the Wildcats in 2009 for a 10-year encore. During those 10 years, Snyder led Kansas State to eight consecutive bowl games, a few more top-25 seasons, and the 2012 Big 12 championship. By the time he retired for good after the 2018 season, he had won 215 games while turning the Wildcats from a laughing stock into one of the most respected and consistent programs in the Big 12, laying the foundation for future success at Kansas State.
