Everybody knows that college football is king in the state of Alabama and that even applies to the South Alabama Jaguars. With the program only being established in 2009, cheap South Alabama football tickets have been the norm. However, the Jaguars have made such a huge leap in such a small period of time that the demand for last-minute South Alabama football tickets is off the charts. The Jaguars are now a perennial contender in the Sun Belt Conference, and while they may never be the best football team in the state of Alabama, the Jaguars are more than holding their own while creating a name for themselves.

Baby Jaguars

The South Alabama football program began in 2009 under the guidance of head coach Joey Jones. The Jaguars went 17-0 over their first two seasons while playing at the FCS level. But the plan was always for South Alabama to make a smooth transition to the FBS level, which they did in 2012 when they joined the Sun Belt Conference. By 2014, the sixth year of the program, Jones led the Jaguars to their first-ever bowl game, quickly showing that South Alabama belongs at the FBS level.

The Big Leap

A new era in South Alabama football came in 2021 when Kane Wommack took over as the head coach. Wommack previously served as South Alabama’s defensive coordinator and returned to the program in 2021 as one of the best young coaches in the country. During his second season with the Jaguars, he coached South Alabama to a 10-3 record, earning the Jaguars a share of the Sun Belt West Division and another trip to a bowl game. That season set a new standard for South Alabama football and proved that the Jaguars will be a program to watch in the future.
