Georgia State Football Tickets
College football is so popular in the state of Georgia that there is always room for one more. That’s exactly what happened when the Georgia State Panthers were born in 2010. As a young program, it’s still possible for fans to get their hands on cheap Georgia State football tickets. But don’t expect that to be the case forever. The Panthers have already flexed a little muscle inside the Sun Belt conference and developed some fierce rivalries, including one with Georgia Southern. That has helped increase the demand for last-minute Georgia State football tickets, a trend that isn’t likely to stop any time soon.
Birth of a Program
In 2008, Georgia State officially launched a football program, hiring Bill Curry as its first head coach. Of course, the Panthers didn’t start playing until the 2010 season, beginning as an FCS independent before joining the Colonial Athletic Association for one season in 2012. Naturally, success was difficult to find and maintain for such a young program. Despite going 6-5 in their inaugural season, the Panthers were just 10-23 in Curry’s three seasons before he retired.
Sunny Days Head
After three seasons and just 10 wins, Georgia State made the leap to the FBS level and joined the Sun Belt Conference. However, the Panthers were just 1-23 in their first two seasons in the Sun Belt before things turned around. In 2015, head coach Trent Miles took Georgia State to a bowl game for the first time in program history.
Shawn Elliott took the reins in 2017 and guided the Panthers to their first-ever bowl victory in his first season. Elliott took the Panthers back to a bowl game in 2019, a season highlighted by an upset over Tennessee in the season opener, Georgia State’s first win over a power-conference opponent. It was a win that showed how far Georgia State football had come in its first decade while serving as evidence that the future is bright for the Panthers.
