UNC Charlotte Football Tickets
While Charlotte is a pro football town, the UNC-Charlotte 49ers are starting to make some waves on the college football stage. As one of the newest programs in the country, it’s still common to find cheap UNC-Charlotte football tickets. But the program has plenty of room to grow, and the 49ers have already made good progress. The stage is set for a bright future, which could put last-minute UNC-Charlotte football tickets in high demand in the years to come.
Back By Popular Demand
Officially, Charlotte played three football seasons from 1946 to 1948, going 3-12 over three years before folding. But a group of students and alumni helped organize a return to football. The idea was ultimately approved, allowing the 49ers to begin anew in 2013, going 5-6 in their inaugural season as an FCS independent, with Brad Lambert serving as the first head coach in program history.
Just Getting Started
After just two seasons at the FCS level, Charlotte was invited to make the jump to the FBS level, joining Conference USA in 2015. Naturally, it was a tough transition for Lambert and the 49ers, who went 7-29 over their first three seasons at the FBS level. However, when Will Healy took over as the head coach in 2019, he started to put Charlotte on the map. In his first season, Healy guided the 49ers to their first winning season in program history and their first-ever bowl appearance, going 7-6 despite losing the Bahamas Bowl. That season was a huge step forward for the 49ers and a sign that UNC-Charlotte football is just getting started. It was also an indication that Charlotte could have a bright future, especially with the 49ers joining the American Athletic Conference in 2023, taking another big step forward.
