Grambling State Football Tickets
The Grambling State Tigers are perhaps the best-known small-time college football program in the country. As members of the SWAC, it’s typically easy for fans to find cheap Grambling State football tickets. However, there is an incredible history at Grambling State, largely thanks to Hall of Fame coach Eddie Robinson and multiple Hall of Fame players. Even if the glory days are in the past, there’s something special about the Tigers, which is why every college football fan should jump at the chance to get their hands on last-minute Grambling State football tickets.
The Legend
Grambling State will forever be known for Eddie Robinson, the legendary coach who put the Tigers on the college football map. Robinson coached at Grambling State for 67 years from 1941 to 1997. During that time, he won 408 games and led the Tigers to 17 SWAC championships and nine black college national championships. He also took Grambling State to the 1-AA semifinals in 1980, a massive accomplishment for a SWAC program. Robinson turned Grambling State into something of a mini-powerhouse and a program that was known nationally. He remains one of the winningest and most revered coaches in college football history, accomplishing things at Grambling State that may never be seen in college football ever again.
A Proud Legacy
The Tigers may never be able to replicate the type of sustained success they had under Robinson. However, former Grambling players like Doug Williams and Broderick Fobbs have done their best to uphold the proud tradition of the program. Williams, the first black quarterback to win a Super Bowl, had two stints as the Grambling head coach, winning four conference titles. Fobbs took over the Tigers in 2014 and quickly made them a perennial contender in the SWAC and a top-25 program at the FCS level. Even if they never reach the same heights they did under Robinson, Grambling State is poised to remain one of the best teams in the SWAC for a long time to come.
