Michael Buble may be the Frank Sinatra of his generation. He has the same crooning-style voice that makes romantic people fall to their knees (or at least get a little teary-eyed).

In the past ten years, there have been more wedding dances to Michael Buble songs than anyone can count, and it doesn’t look like that’s changing soon. Buble is one of the musical gifts Canada has given us over the years, like Celine Dion, Shania Twain, and even Justin Bieber. While all those artists have very different styles, they’re Canadian by birth but secretly American at heart!

Let’s Start at the Beginning

Michael comes from British Columbia on the West side of the great white north. He grew up in a musical family, listening to swing-style and soul music with his grandfather whenever they were together. That’s mostly where his love for music came from.

After spending all that time listening to music with his grandfather, he decided he wanted to perform, and not just as a hobby. He wanted the big-time and was ready to prove it. He put in the work and went through Canada’s Youth Talent Search, comparable to American Idol. Michael went on to win it and used his new-found fame to release independent albums and perform on a group tour across the US.

Come Fly With Me, Michael

Michael didn’t go official, like record contract official until the early 2000s. That’s when he met David Foster, who would go on to be his producer. Together they got him a contract with Reprise Labels, and his career soared from there. His debut studio album topped charts and won him New Artist of the Year at the Juno Awards, but he was just getting started. His next two albums did even better – it seems his success is not only linear but exponential.
