About Waitress

Waitress Tickets

Broadway does feel-good musicals really well. And there’s a reason for that, after all: we all love a happy ending, and it’s even better if there’s some great music that accompanies it. That’s why Waitress, the musical based on the 2007 indie film of the same name and featuring songs and lyrics by Sara Bareilles, has been such a runaway hit with audiences for years around the world!

True to Its Roots

The story of Waitress the musical is true to its roots as an indie film. It follows Jenna, a waitress with a penchant for baking amazing pies and desserts but trapped in an unhappy marriage, as she experiences a surprise (and at first unwanted) pregnancy. As the story unfolds, Jenna seeks a way out of her dead-end life any way she can, beginning an affair with her doctor and settling on attempting to win a pie-baking contest to use the grand prize money to start over again. How it plays out in the end, well, we’re not spoiling anything besides saying that there’s a very happy ending indeed!

The Life of Pie

The transition from a quirky indie film in 2007 to a smash-hit Broadway musical was a long one. Plans emerged to transform the story into a musical in 2013, and in 2015 a trial run of the show was put on in Massachusetts. The next year, it hit Broadway and hit it hard, spawning both a national tour in 2017 and a production in London’s West End in 2019.

There seemed like no stopping Waitress in its takeover of Broadway until COVID-19 shut everything down in 2020. But that’s just a setback. Like Jenna and her unflappable spirit to rise above, Waitress is set to return as the dust settles and the skies clear. There’s no keeping a musical this good down for the count!

Frequently Asked Questions

How much are Waitress tickets?

Waitress ticket prices will differ depending on the source and the seats. The best price for Waitress tickets is usually around $82 a ticket, and that’s for nosebleed seats! If you want floor seats, or if you’re shopping for tickets at a popular venue, you could easily be looking at a few hundred dollars more.

How to buy Waitress tickets?

Waitress ticket prices are going to be pretty high if purchased directly from the box office. That means the best way to buy cheap Waitress tickets is online through a ticket marketplace. Ticket marketplaces like Gametime are perfect because they put you in contact with resellers looking to move seats at a relative bargain. It’s the safest and most affordable way to get the best price for Waitress tickets.

How long is a Waitress Show?

The expected running time of Waitress is around two hours and 30 minutes, including one intermission.

How much are Waitress floor seats?

The best way to see Waitress live is up close and personal from the floor, but these seats are always super expensive. The cheap end of floor seats can easily be $110 to $207, and if you’re seeing Waitress at a venue with stage pit seats it could be even more pricey.

Of course, there are ways around this. There’s a great strategy for cutting Waitress ticket prices on floor seats, and the best part is that it requires you to do literally nothing but wait. Waiting until the last minute can get you some great discounts because resellers with unsold seats don’t make any money. Wait it out and watch those prices drop to something more affordable, and then enjoy your floor seats!
