Dartmouth Football Tickets
College football historians understand the importance of the Ivy League in the history of the sport. More importantly, they also know that the Dartmouth Big Green is one of the most storied programs in Ivy League history. In modern times, it’s been relatively easy to track down cheap Dartmouth football tickets. However, that could start to change in the years to come. The Big Green appears to be a team on the rise, meaning last-minute Dartmouth football tickets will once again be in high demand.
A Long History
Dartmouth has been playing college football since 1881. Like most Ivy League schools, they were an important part of the early days of college football. The Big Green was something special late in the 19th century when they dominated the Triangular Football League, which featured other New England schools. That success carried over into the first few decades of the 20th century. The Big Green was retroactively handed the 1925 national championship and had a 22-game unbeaten streak from 1936 to 1938. Upon joining the Ivy League in 1956, Dartmouth immediately became one of the league’s top teams. In the 25-year period between 1958 and 1982, the Big Green won 13 Ivy League titles, including a run of five in a row from 1969 to 1973.
Everyone’s Buddy
If there’s been one prominent figure in Dartmouth football in modern times, it’s undoubtedly Buddy Teevens. As the starting quarterback at Dartmouth, he led the Big Green to the 1978 Ivy League title. He returned as head coach in 1987 and won Ivy League titles in 1990 and 1991 before leaving for other jobs. Of course, Teevens returned in 2005 to fix a struggling program. It was a long journey that included a winless 2008 season. But the school had faith in Teevens, who eventually got Dartmouth back to the top of the Ivy League, winning conference titles in 2015 and 2019, setting up the Big Green for bright days ahead.
