A Little Buzz

While most of Sacramento State’s football history has been at the lower levels, the Hornets have found some success. After joining the Big Sky Conference in 1996, the Hornets struggled to find consistent success. However, that changed when they hired Troy Taylor as the head coach in 2019. Taylor brought immediate success to the Hornets, going 30-8 and 23-1 in conference play over three seasons. In these three years, he led Sacramento State to the FCS playoffs, including the program’s first-ever playoff win and a trip to the quarterfinals in 2022. While Taylor left to coach Stanford after the 2022 season, he showed what the Hornets are capable of and created a foundation for future success.
