Georgia Tech Basketball Tickets
In recent years, it’s become easy to find cheap Georgia Tech basketball tickets with the Yellow Jackets struggling to keep pace in the rough and tumble ACC. But, Georgia Tech is still a proud program, and past success is always a sign that future success could be just around the corner. Plus, with the Yellow Jackets playing in one of the nation’s elite conferences, last-minute Georgia Tech basketball tickets are still appealing to college basketball fans.
All About Bobby
Georgia Tech first experienced true success on the basketball court in the 1980s under head coach Bobby Cremins. In his fourth season at the helm, Cremins guided the Yellow Jackets to an ACC championship, earning Georgia Tech a spot in the NCAA Tournament for the first time in 25 years and the second time in program history. That kicked off a run of nine straight NCAA Tournament appearances under Cremins, a stretch that included three ACC tournament wins and a trip to the Final Four in 1990, a first for the Yellow Jackets.
Close Call
While things fell apart for Cremins late in his tenure, Paul Hewitt was able to rebuild Georgia Tech in a hurry. He got the Yellow Jackets back to the NCAA Tournament in his first season and four more times in the next 10 seasons. Of course, the highlight of Hewitt’s tenure was the 2004 NCAA Tournament when Georgia Tech reached the national championship game for the first time in school history, albeit falling a little short against UConn.
Renewed Hope
In 2016, the Yellow Jackets brought in Josh Pastner to help revive a struggling program. Pastner brought plenty of credibility to the table, creating optimism that he could bring Georgia Tech out of the basement of a loaded ACC. After the Yellow Jackets finished fifth in the ACC during the 2019-20 season, the Yellow Jackets have reason to believe that better days are ahead of them and that Georgia Tech is capable of competing with the elite teams of the ACC.
