Wake Forest Basketball Tickets

Lately, things haven’t gone according to plan for the Wake Forest Demon Deacons, but they are still one of the top programs in the basketball-rich state of North Carolina. Given its impressive history of success and long lineage of star players, it’s never been easy for fans to score cheap Wake Forest basketball tickets. That doesn’t seem likely to change anytime soon. The Demon Deacons still play an A-plus schedule in the ACC every year and have the potential to get to being one of the elite programs in the conference, keeping last-minute Wake Forest basketball tickets in high demand.

The Early Days

Wake Forest basketball has been around since 1905, although the program didn’t start to pick up steam until the 1950s, around the time the Demon Deacons joined the ACC. In 1960, head coach Bones McKinney led Wake Forest to its first-ever ACC championship. Two years later, McKinney and the Demon Deacons won the ACC again before advancing to the first Final Four in program history.

On the Map

Despite some intermittent success, Wake Forest didn’t become a permanent fixture on the college basketball map until the 1990s. Head coach Dave Odom took over in 1989 and soon started a run of 16 straight seasons of the Demon Deacons playing in either the NCAA Tournament or NIT. That stretch included Sweet 16 appearances in 1995 and 1996 behind legend Tim Duncan, as well as an NIT championship in 2000. When Odom left Wake Forest, the program’s success was continued by Skip Prosser, who led the Demon Deacons to an ACC championship in 2003. That was followed by a Sweet 16 appearance in 2004 on the back of point guard Chris Paul, another legendary figure in Wake Forest history.
