UT-Arlington Basketball Tickets
While the Lone Star State is known more for college football than college basketball, that doesn’t mean you can’t find a few quality mid-major basketball programs scattered throughout the massive state. One hidden gem you might find is the UT-Arlington Mavericks. Since they play in a city that hosts multiple pro sports franchises, the Mavericks are often overlooked, making cheap UT-Arlington basketball tickets easy to find. However, the Mavericks have made some serious strides forward in recent years, putting last-minute UT-Arlington basketball tickets in high demand.
We Have Arrived
Success was slow to find for UT-Arlington basketball. After being a founding member of the Southland Conference in 1993, the Mavericks didn’t win their first regular-season conference title until 2004. However, that helped set the stage for bigger things. In 2008, head coach Scott Cross led the Mavericks to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history after UT-Arlington won the Southland Tournament despite being the 7th seed. Naturally, the Mavericks were given a no.16 seed and lost to Memphis in the first round. Nevertheless, it was a huge step forward for UT-Arlington basketball.
Moving Forward
Unfortunately for the Mavericks, the program didn’t take off after reaching the Big Dance in 2008. But Cross brought UT-Arlington to the NIT in 2012 and led them into the Sun Belt Conference in 2013. Of course, that move meant a step up in competition, but the Mavericks responded well. In 2017, Cross led UT-Arlington to the Sun Belt regular-season title and the Quarterfinals of the NIT. In 2018, Cross was replaced by Chris Ogden, who immediately won Sun Belt Coach of the Year honors in his first season, establishing the Mavericks as a team to watch closely in the years to come.
