About the Yale Basketball

Yale Basketball Tickets

Ivy League basketball teams like the Yale Bulldogs don’t usually get a lot of respect. Most fans assume that it’s easy to get cheap Yale basketball tickets for every single game. However, the Bulldogs have started to emerge in recent years as one of the best teams in the Ivy League and a threat to win a game or two in the NCAA Tournament. The Bulldogs are no longer a pushover, and suddenly getting your hands on cheap Yale basketball tickets is a treat, especially when facing one of their bitter Ivy League rivals.

Early Domination

Long before the Ivy League was established, Yale was a powerhouse in the northeast. The Bulldogs have retroactively been awarded six national championships in the late 19th century and early 20th century. The Premo-Porretta Poll named Yale champions in 1896, 1897, 1899, and 1900 while the Helms Athletic Foundation named the Bulldogs champs in 1901 and 1903. During the early years of the 20th century, Yale was also a force inside the Eastern Intercollegiate Basketball League, which eventually morphed into the Ivy League.

Coming Full Circle

Since the turn of the 21st century, Yale has turned into an Ivy League powerhouse under head coach James Jones, who took control of the program in 1999. The Bulldogs have finished in the top half of the conference standings every year since 2001. However, they started to take things to another level in 2014 when the Bulldogs reached the finals of the CIT postseason tournament. The following year, Yale began a stretch of four regular-season Ivy League titles in a span of six years. That stretch also included the program’s first-ever NCAA Tournament win, a first-round upset of Baylor in 2016. After another appearance in the Big Dance in 2019, it’s obvious that the Bulldogs are now a force in the Ivy League and a program to watch closely in the years to come.
