Most families have one musical person in them, whether it’s a daughter, a cousin, or an aunt. Not many families have three musical people, who are all brothers and are less than five total years apart in age. When you narrow it down to those criteria, the only people left are the Jonas Brothers and the newer-to-the-scene, AJR.

While both are great bands, AJR didn’t have the Disney Channel exposure to success track that the Jonas Brothers did. They had to become a successful band the old fashioned way – by showing off their talent on the internet. Their “got famous on the internet” strategy worked, though it took hard work, and they’re some of the most promising original (not to mention related) musicians on the scene today.

The Brothers

The band is made up of three brothers, Adam, Jack, and Ryan Metzger, though they go by the last name, “Met.” The three have always known music was in the future in some form, but they could never have imagined it would be at the level it’s at now. Before they had a fancy studio, the three would mix and create music in their shared apartment in Chelsea, NYC. Their living room was their studio for the bulk of their career until they finally started getting the recognition they deserved.

Touring with the Greats

That recognition came in the form of touring with ultra-popular artists. They’ve opened for Demi Levato, Lindsey Stirling, and even Hoodie Allen. The exposure they got on these tours allowed them to get written up in magazines and put out three independent albums to date. If you don’t have all three of their EPs, you’re missing out. The brothers manage to put together hit after hit – and at this rate, we just hope they don’t run out of musical genius.
