B2K Tickets
Some people describe B2K as an “urban” boy band. Others call them the Backstreet Boys if the Backstreet Boys had legitimate street cred (and could rap). Whatever you call them, If you were a fan of B2K in the early 2000s, it’s been a while since you’ve gotten your Omarion fix. Well, that wait is over. In January of 2019, the band announced a reunion tour, and it’s more star-studded than ever. While the tour will feature the original members Omarion, Lil’ Fizz, J_Boog, and Raz-B, they’re bringing a bevy of special guests. This is one #throwbackthursday type even you don’t want to miss!
The Good Old Days
The boy band craze was real in the early 2000s, and it was very…white. The Backstreet Boys and N’Sync looked a lot alike and even made similar music. It wasn’t until B2K came on the scene that there was a little diversity in the mix. Headed by Omarion, who used the group to launch his solo career, the band dominated the R&B/Hip Hop stations for three years. During their short stint, they put out three albums, which both earned high ratings. Their first self-titled album came out in 2002, with two charting singles.
The same year they put out “Pandemonium!” which went platinum with the help of the single “Bump, Bump, Bump.” Unfortunately, the band broke up after putting out their third album, “You Got Served” due to management-related issues.
Getting Back Together
Don’t get too excited, the band has only announced a reunion tour, and hasn’t said anything about plans for a new album. But who knows what will happen if the tour goes well? It’s more like what will happen when the tour goes well, rather than if. It includes special guests Chingy, Mario, Pretty Ricky, Bobby V, and the Ying Yang Twins – all throwbacks from the same decade.
