The EDM scene, or Electronic Dance Music, the scene has blown up in the last ten years. It’s seen almost exponential growth, with more DJ’s coming out of the depths of the internet each year. One of those artists is Alesso, who came onto the scene in 2012. He came out out of Sweden with heady beats and sick drops, plus the hit single “Calling,” which is sometimes called “Lose My Mind.”

That single did so well that it made it overseas and got the attention of none other than Madonna. The queen of the ’80s had him open for her on multiple tours, which is how he started to build his fan base. Imagine going from unknown artist to sharing a stage with Madonna in less than a year.

Coachella and EDC

When he was done touring for Madonna, he got spots on the big festival circuits. That included Coachella and the EDM holy grail, Electric Daisy Carnival. And while he was doing well, his music didn’t hit the radio until the pop-EDM crossover, “Heros,” came out in 2014. His next hit came in the form of “Let Me Go,” which featured the strange-but-successful combination of Hailee Steinfeld and Florida Georgia Line.

A Household Name

Once his songs started to get some play on the radio, it seemed that he got world-famous overnight. Suddenly he wasn’t just invited to festivals. He was headlining them! He even got the opportunity to DJ major shows in Ibiza – one of the party capitals of the world. Alesso did all that before even putting out a debut album or a mixtape, which he finally did in late 2019.
