In the Beginning

Gucci Mane didn’t take the most conventional path to being a world-famous rapper. After a string of problems with the law, Gucci Mane ended up spending more than two years in prison from 2014 to 2016. However, that was far from the end of his career. In the four years after his release, Gucci Mane released six studio albums while continuing to churn out hit songs. He also started to receive award nominations, including a Grammy nomination in 2020 for a song he did with Lizzo. In fact, during the post-prison part of his career, it’s almost as if Gucci Mane can do no wrong, at least musically speaking. He continues to be a hugely successful and influential artist, making him among the most popular rappers in the world.
