Texas State Basketball Tickets
Cheap Texas State basketball tickets have long been easy to find. However, Texas State has made great strides with its athletic department in recent years, and that includes progress on the basketball court. The Bobcats have started to show their claws and become a factor in the Sun Belt Conference, increasing the demand for last-minute Texas State basketball tickets and creating some excitement among the fan base.
Lone Star Success
While it hasn’t found success at the Division I level, Texas State basketball has experienced plenty of winning over the years. The Bobcats were founding members of the Lone Star Conference and spent much of the 1950s and 60s as one of the league’s premier programs. In fact, the Bobcats won the NAIA national championship in 1960 when the school was known as Southwest Texas State.
The Show
After winning a national championship and playing in multiple Final Fours at the NAIA level, Texas State eventually worked its way up to the Division I level. As a member of the Southland Conference, the Bobcats reached the NCAA Tournament in both 1994 and 1997, the program’s first two appearances in the Big Dance. During the late 90s, Texas State became one of the top teams in the Southland, winning the regular-season championship in 1997 and 1999.
A New Era
In 2013, Texas State basketball entered a new era when it joined the Sun Belt Conference, taking a considerable step up in competition from the Southland. While it took some time, by the end of the 2010s, the Bobcats had worked their way up the food chain in the Sun Belt and had become one of the league’s best teams. Texas State made postseason appearances in the CIT in both 2017 and 2019, the program’s first postseason appearances since 1997. While the Bobcats haven’t quite reached the top of the mountain, the foundation has been set for a successful future in San Marcos.
