About the Purdue Basketball
Purdue Basketball Tickets
With so many quality basketball programs in the Big Ten, the Purdue Boilermakers often get lost in the shuffle. To be fair, the Boilermakers are far from a powerhouse program. But fans would be wrong to assume that getting cheap Purdue basketball is easy. After all, Purdue is located in Indiana, which is one of the country’s biggest hotbeds of basketball fans. The truth is that the Boilermakers are a proud program, and any college basketball fan in the midwest would be lucky to get their hands on last-minute Purdue basketball tickets.
The Glory Days
The glory days for Purdue basketball were during the 1920s and 30s under head coach Ward Lambert. Over a span of 20 years, the Boilermakers won the Big Ten championship 11 times. That stretch included the 1931-32 season in which Purdue was retroactively named national championship by two organizations. The Boilermakers were led that season by John Wooden, who played at Purdue before becoming a legendary coach at UCLA.
The Legend and Apprentice
After 1940, Purdue was rarely in the spotlight until the arrival of Gene Keady in 1980. Keady took over a team that reached the Final Four the previous season and proceeded to build the Boilermakers into one of the top programs in the Big Ten. Over his 25 seasons, Keady led Purdue to six Big Ten titles and 17 NCAA Tournament appearances, including two visits to the Elite Eight. When Keady retired in 2005, Matt Painter took over a struggling program but soon got the Boilermakers back to the top of the Big 10, winning conference titles in 2010, 2017, and 2019. Painter’s time at Purdue has also included five Sweet 16 appearances and a 30-win season in 2018. Much like Keady, he has the Boilermakers rolling, achieving a level of consistency that makes most other Big Ten schools jealous.
