Cal State Fullerton Basketball Tickets
Despite being known mostly as a baseball school, the Cal State Fullerton Titans have grown by leaps and bounds on the basketball court in recent years. Traditionally, it’s been easy to find cheap Cal State Fullerton basketball tickets. But those days are quickly becoming a thing of the past. The Titans have made great headway since the turn of the century and have become a force within the Big West Conference. While it’s not easy to reach the same level as some of the legendary basketball programs in the state of California, the Titans are at least becoming a noteworthy mid-major program. As a result, the demand for last-minute Cal State Fullerton basketball tickets is on the rise and should continue to rise in the years to come.
A Cinderella Story
Cal State Fullerton first emerged onto the college basketball stage in 1978 when the Titans made an unlikely run to the Elite Eight. Under head coach Bobby Dye and led by star player Greg Bunch, the Titans made the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history. Cal State Fullerton pulled off upset wins over New Mexico and San Francisco, shocking the country by reaching the Elite Eight. While the Titans weren’t able to immediately build off that success, it remains a high watermark for the program.
21st Century Titans
After the turn of the century, Cal State Fullerton finally started to make some headway on the basketball court. Under head coach Bob Burton, the Titans reached the NIT in 2005, winning two games in the tournament, before returning to the NCAA Tournament in 2008 for the first time in 30 years. Dedrique Taylor eventually picked up the torch in 2013, guiding the Titans from the bottom of the Big West to the top. Under Taylor, Cal State Fullerton returned to the Big Dance in both 2018 and 2022. Even without a proud basketball lineage, the Titans have become a yearly contender in the Big West and one of the top mid-major programs in the state of California.
